We began as Dream Cars in 1999. Our original location was on Highway 620 near Hudson Bend Rd and Lake Travis. I became involved with the operation in 2003 as a shareholder and sort of as a silent partner. My background and career prior to Dream Cars was in the High Tech and Electronic/Semiconductor business. I earned an Engineering degree at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, California and moved to Austin in 1990 to work with Texas Instruments. I later started a successful software company and a Manufacturer's Representative Company specializing in selling semiconductors and electronic components. By 2000, we had a very successful business but the landscape was changing with China recently joining the World Trade Organization. The business was moving to China rapidly and it was becoming clear to me that continuing to be successful in this field would require spending a lot of time in China. In 2002 my first Son was born and I didn't want to spend half of my life in China, so I began exploring other opportunities and ultimately settled on Dream Cars. Cars had always been my passion and I could plainly see that a fresh approach to selling cars would be welcomed by the car buying public.
In late 2004, I took over as President of Dream Cars. During 2005, our business expanded and we ran out of space at the 620 location. I also really began to appreciate how many people there are with limited budgets and less than perfect credit that need help financing a nicer, newer vehicle. So in January 2006, I purchased 2 acres on Highway 290 East, renamed the operation to Dream Cars Credit and moved us to the new location. At the same time, we partnered with Credit Acceptance and other specialty lenders to help finance our customers with limited options. Since then, we have been expanding both our financing sources and expertise at helping people solve their unique transportation problems.
In 2011, The State of Texas expanded Highway 290E and bought out the property under threat of Imminent Domain. In 2011, I purchased the South Bell Blvd location in Cedar Park, just North of the Austin border and moved our operation there.
From 2011 to 2016, we really developed our concept and execution of being a "Dealer for the People" and we more than doubled in size. And we're just getting started!
